Data-Driven Business Management: Dashboards for Startups
The startups that succeed aren't the ones that work the hardest, but the ones that steer the best. This training gives you the founder's dashboard: a clear cockpit where every number tells you where you are, where you're headed, and what needs fixing right now. You stop navigating on instinct and start deciding with surgical precision — moving faster, wasting less, adapting better.
The approach is hands-on and built for a young company. You start by choosing the right metrics — acquisition, conversion, customer acquisition cost (CAC), customer lifetime value (LTV), monthly growth, margins, cash flow, satisfaction — and steering clear of the useless numbers that drown out decisions. You then learn to automate data collection: connecting your website, CRM, ERP, and advertising platforms into a unified system for a real-time view with no manual entry and no errors. Then you design simple, readable, action-oriented visualizations that tell a story instead of lining up charts.
By the end of the program, you walk away with your own strategic dashboard — live and automated — and with the management rituals that turn data into decisions. You'll know how to read a weak signal, anticipate a cash flow drift, measure the real profitability of a channel, and present your numbers to a partner or an investor. Data becomes the brain of your business — and you become the pilot who knows exactly what to do with it.
What you walk away with
Your management deserves professional tools. BSF Startup Lab supports you well beyond the training:
A complimentary dashboard — we build a strategic dashboard for free for every startup enrolled: automation, KPIs, projections, and analytics included.
Full integration available — for the most ambitious projects, we can offer end-to-end integration in exchange for a minimal equity stake, so you benefit from a professional tool with no upfront investment.
Your data connected and live — your tools (website, CRM, ERP, ad platforms) connected into a unified, real-time view, ready to drive your business by the end of the program.
Program — 12 sessions of 1 hour
A program that starts with strategy (what to measure and why) and goes all the way to a living cockpit: we define the right KPIs, automate data collection, design visualizations that drive decisions, then set up the startup's management rituals.
Module 1 — The management strategy (sessions 1-3)
1. Drive rather than be driven — why data is the brain of the startup; deciding on facts, spotting opportunities and drifts before it's too late.
2. Choosing the right KPIs — the mistake of having too many or useless metrics; mapping the metrics that truly matter for your model and your stage.
3. North Star & objectives — choosing your master metric, setting targets and alert thresholds, tying each KPI to a concrete decision.
Module 2 — The startup's key metrics (sessions 4-6)
4. Acquisition & conversion — measuring the funnel end to end, by channel, and reading where you win or lose your customers.
5. CAC, LTV & profitability — calculating acquisition cost, customer lifetime value, and the LTV/CAC ratio; knowing which channel deserves your budget.
6. Growth, margins & cash flow — tracking monthly growth, margins, and cash flow; anticipating runway and cash-flow strains.
Module 3 — Automating data collection (sessions 7-9)
7. Mapping your sources — website, CRM, ERP, advertising platforms, billing: where your data lives and how to unify it.
8. Connect & automate — connecting your tools into a unified system for real-time numbers, with no manual entry and no error-prone copy-pasting.
9. Making the data reliable — cleaning, deduplicating, and clearly defining each metric so that a number always means the same thing.
Module 4 — Visualize & manage (sessions 10-12)
10. Designing the dashboard — a simple, readable, decision-oriented visualization: a dashboard that tells a story instead of piling up charts.
11. The management ritual — reading the dashboard every week, spotting weak signals, and turning every gap into corrective action.
12. Projections & investor pitch — building credible projections and presenting your numbers clearly to a partner or an investor.
