POWER BI for SAP: Unlock Your Data and Democratize Access to Information

Your company runs on SAP, the world's leading ERP: rigorous, robust, capable of handling the most massive processes. But how many times have you waited days for a simple report, dependent on the IT department for the slightest custom view? This training frees you from that dependency. You learn to connect Power BI to your SAP environment — HANA or ECC — to transform data locked in transactions into living, interactive dashboards accessible to everyone. You move from "IT reporting" to self-service BI, and you are the one who takes back control of your information.

The approach is concrete and resolutely business-focused. You begin by understanding SAP's data architecture — modules, tables, HANA models — then you establish the connection through certified connectors and the data gateway, ensuring security and performance. You then model your data cleanly (star schema, relationships, DAX), you cross-reference SAP with your other sources — CRM, Excel budget files, market data — and you design clear dashboards that your sales directors, management controllers, and logistics managers will use every day. Not a single line of ABAP: only the familiar ergonomics of Microsoft and the power of SAP brought together.

By the end of the program, you know how to build a complete decision-making chain, from SAP extraction all the way to secure publication on the Power BI service, with automatic refresh and controlled sharing. You will have reduced your dependence on legacy reporting tools, accelerated adoption by business teams, and given your organization a true culture of data-driven management. With BSF, you bring together the rigor of SAP and the agility of Power BI — for a company finally driven by information rather than held back by it.

What you walk away with

A directly operational skill, ready to put to use the very next day in your SAP environment:

A mastered SAP↔Power BI connection — certified connectors, data gateway, and automatic refresh configured and understood.

Your own dashboards — sales, finance, and logistics reports built on your real data, usable immediately.

Business team autonomy — the ability to answer your own questions yourself, without reopening a ticket with IT.

Governance best practices — row-level security (RLS), access management, and performance to deploy at scale with confidence.

Program — 14 sessions of 1 hour

A path that follows the data chain: understanding SAP and self-service BI, establishing and securing the connection, modeling and cross-referencing data, designing meaningful dashboards, then publishing, governing, and deploying to business teams.

Module 1 — Understanding the Challenge and the Ecosystem (sessions 1-3)

1. From IT reporting to self-service BI — why free SAP data, the limits of SAP BW and Business Objects, and the cultural revolution brought by Power BI.

2. Anatomy of SAP data — modules (FI, SD, MM, CO), tables, HANA models, and ECC vs S/4HANA differences: where your data lives.

3. Getting started with Power BI — Desktop, online service, and gateway: the building blocks of the decision-making chain and the role of each.

Module 2 — Connecting Power BI to SAP (sessions 4-6)

4. Certified connectors — SAP HANA, SAP BW, and ECC tables: choosing the right connector, Import and DirectQuery modes.

5. The data gateway (Gateway) — installation, service accounts, security, and performance of the data flows between SAP and the Power BI service.

6. Cleaning data with Power Query — columns, types, filters, and transformations to make your SAP extractions reliable upstream.

Module 3 — Modeling and Cross-Referencing Data (sessions 7-9)

7. The data model — star schema, fact and dimension tables, relationships: the foundation of a fast and accurate report.

8. Measures and calculations in DAX — business metrics (revenue, margin, variances), running totals, and time comparisons, without a single line of ABAP.

9. The 360° view — cross-reference SAP with CRM (Salesforce), Excel budget files, and market data within a single model.

Module 4 — Designing Meaningful Dashboards (sessions 10-12)

10. Visualizations and interactivity — choosing the right chart, filters, slicers, and drill-down to explore data with a single click.

11. Business dashboards — building sales, management control, and logistics reports that are genuinely used day to day.

12. Design and readability — layout, information hierarchy, and storytelling to make your numbers speak.

Module 5 — Publishing, Securing, and Deploying (sessions 13-14)

13. Publishing and refresh — workspaces, scheduling refresh through the gateway, and controlled sharing of reports.

14. Governance and adoption — row-level security (RLS), access management, performance best practices, and change management with business teams.
